tour some classic boulders at devil’s lake state park
Take a tour with the WCA of some of Devil’s Lake State Park’s most classic boulder problems!
Join us on June 24, 2023 for a special tour of a variety of boulder problems and climbing with friends. Sign-up is now open!
This is a great event for climbers newer to outdoor climbing or new to Devil’s Lake. It’s also great for climbers of all abilities and experience levels or if you’re looking to meet new climbers and help work out beta to sticky problems.
Please sign-up in advance! A head count will help us know how many tour guides and pads to have available. Registration will also be available that morning but prices increase for same day registration.
Check-in from 8:30 - 9 am at the North Shore parking lot near the Welcome to the Lake Boulders. Look for the WCA and a stack of boulder pads. We’ll check out this classic area and then head up the East Bluff.
What to bring:
Boulder pad if you have one. If you don’t, we’ve got you covered! WCA will bring our fleet of pads.
Climbing shoes and chalk - this tour includes climbing!
Water. Be prepared to hydrate. There is no bubbler in the boulders.
Snacks, sunglasses, layers, and anything else that will keep your psych up.
After the tour, we’ll head to our group campsite where we’ll meet up with Altay competitors. The Altay Classic finishes at 5 pm with activities scheduled until the Altay awards at 6 pm. Connect with other climbers and enjoy a snack potluck and fire!
You can also sign-up to camp with WCA! Bring your own tent, sleeping bag, and food. We’ll provide the awesome, cheap, and easy opportunity to camp at Devil’s Lake on a summer weekend.
If cost is a barrier to participating, please email us at info@wiclimbers.com.
