Board Of Directors
The organization is represented by nine volunteer board members, who are elected to serve three year terms. Take a moment to learn more about the board members and their roles below.
Jacob kron
(He/Him) | PRESIDENT
jacob@wiclimbers.com | Year 2 of 3
I have been climbing in Wisconsin for about 10 years, and have greatly appreciated the benefits it has had in my life. The passion, creativity, and challenge elicited by the sport has encouraged me to live a healthier, more fulfilling life than I could have hoped for. The support of the climbing community has provided many enriching relationships and adventures that have sustained my journey in climbing and the exploration of our great natural spaces. It is my goal to help the WCA support sustainable and inclusive climbing access for anyone interested. Through my professional work guiding at Devil's Lake State Park, and volunteer work through adaptive climbing it has been a great joy of mine to share the experience and enthusiasm that this wonderful sport has offered to me.
Taylar Foster
(She/Her) | VICE PRESIDENT
taylar@wiclimbers.com | Year 2 of 3
Taylar is newer to climbing but already she's benefitted from a WCA JEDI scholarship and traveled around Wisconsin bouldering. She is grateful for the welcoming and inclusive climbing community she's found. During the day she works for the Wisconsin Dept of Tourism and on the weekends she trail runs and explores outdoor places. Taylar is also on the board of directors for the Friends of Devil’s Lake State Park.
Burt Lindquist
(He/Him) | TREASURER, STEWARDSHIP
burt@wiclimbers.com | Year 1 of 3
Burt is a Wisconsin native, who has been climbing here since the 1970s. Your secret spot? Burt probably climbed there 30+ years ago (but your secret is safe). Burt is also a photogrammetrist.
John Dobbe
(He/Him) | EVENTS & COMPS
dobbefocus@gmail.com | Year 3 of 3
John Dobbe is the originator of the WCA and the mind behind the original Boulder Bash. He’s an exceptionally motivated individual and has a love affair with good pastries. Somehow he manages to still crush at the boulders and we can confidently say he’s done Highly Executed more than anyone else! Saying he has it wired would be an understatement.
Nic Van Zile
(He/Him) | JEDI
nic@wiclimbers.com | Year 3 of 3
I'm a Sokaogon Chippewa Tribal Member who was raised in Antigo and still calls the Northwoods home. I grew up hiking at the Eau Claire Dells and scrambling up the boulders along the river. Rocky outcrops on Rib Mountain and summer trips to New Hampshire started my obsession with the outdoors. One of my favorite things to do is explore the obscure parts of Northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula for climbing opportunities. Some of my favorite areas/routes in Wisconsin include: Hillbilly Hollow (PWB Arete), Rib Mountain State Park, Chute Pond, Dave Falls County Park (Menhir), and Interstate Park.
Peter Thuli
(He/Him) | OUTREACH
peter@wiclimbers.com | Year 2 of 3
Peter found climbing in 2020 and within a month found himself in Red Rocks getting pulled up his first multi-pitch (Cat in the Hat, anyone?). From that point, climbing instantly became a big part of his life. From the supportive members of the climbing community in Wisconsin to the mental and physical rewards of the sport, climbing has impacted his life in more ways than he ever imagined.
Peter’s excitement to be a part of the WCA stems from his desire to help keep climbing inclusive, sustainable, and adventurous in our beautiful state of Wisconsin. On weekends you’ll find him cragging at Devil’s Lake or practicing big wall systems in his backyard.
Jordan owen
(She/Her)
jordan@wiclimbers.com | Year 1 of 1
Jordan discovered climbing in 2018, when she realized it was an activity that could take her to wild and wonderful places, while allowing her to experience ones close to home anew. It has helped her to build relationships and establish her home in Wisconsin. Her favorite climbing is top-roping at Devil’s Lake, with sport climbing in Red Rock a close second. When not out climbing, she works as an instructor for Devil’s Lake Climbing Guides while owning and operating an education data analysis consultancy.
Glenn poole
(He/They)
glenn@wiclimbers.com | Year 1 of 3
Glenn started climbing rocks in 2019 as a way to stay sane while working toward a PhD in educational policy. Now he works as an assessment researcher on weekdays, a climbing guide on weekends, and an ice cream sommelier whenever possible.
Their favorite climbs in Wisconsin include Back Seat Belay, Beer and Booty, Peter's Project, and Cleo's southwest dihedral. Glenn joined the WCA to help support access to safe, inclusive outdoor experiences for all climbers in Wisconsin.
Casey wong
(She/Her)
casey@wiclimbers.com | Year 1 of 3
Casey has been climbing on and off since 2019, but it’s only been in the last year that she has really dove in. Since her first outdoor trip to Devil’s Lake— she was immediately hooked! After that, she climbed in Joshua Tree with friends and developed a deeper interest in trad climbing. The beauty of the outdoors pushed her to want to get involved in sustainability efforts through groups like the WCA, with the mission to break down barriers to outdoor activities and promote stewardship.
