WCA Graffiti Clean Up - Gibralter Rock

Gibralter Rock has long been a party spot for the local kids, and it is often littered with trash and has long been marred by graffiti (esp. "the Party Hole"). Climbers have periodically cleaned up. With the recent explosion of graffiti at the top of the bluff, it is time to show this place a little love again.

Gibralter Rock is a State Natural Area and a unit of the Ice Age Trail. Although climbing is not currently allowed here, it was climbed from the 1960s through the early 1990s. We are actively advocating that's its closed status be reevaluated, and the WDNR has recently taken a small step in this direction.

When: Saturday, 25 August, two shifts: 9am to noon, or 1 to 4pm. You are welcome to help on both shifts.
Where: Gibralter Rock State Natural Area (https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/lands/naturalareas/index.asp?SNA=73). Meet at the east parking lot off County V (the lot that is downhill from the road).
Bring: lunch, water, older work clothes. Climbing gear if you plan to go to Devils Lake after. We will provide gloves, eye protection, trash bags, Elephant Snot and other graffiti removing material.

Owens Rock Service Day

Owens Rock is one of those neglected places:  a roadside rock in the Central Sands, at the edge of Leola Marsh State Wildlife Area.  Help us clean up the mess people have made of this place.

(Near Necedah, Hillbilly Hollow, Rabbit Rock, and Shiprock.  See MountainProject for climbing info and a map.)
